# AI Governance Standards Board (AIGSB) > AIGSB is a practitioner-led, not-for-profit standards body (being organized; founded in New York in 2026) that develops open, technology-neutral standards for accountable enterprise AI. Its AIGS series covers AI ownership, AI cost and token accountability, AI usage and shadow AI, personal data in AI, AI agent and tool security (including exposure paths and MCP tool servers), and evidence and assurance. Its structure and due process are modeled on financial-reporting standard setters such as FASB and PCAOB. Key facts: - Name: AI Governance Standards Board (AIGSB). Website: https://aigsb.org/ - Status of standards: all six AIGS standards and the Accountability Framework are exposure drafts (ED-2026 series) open for a 60-day public comment period. None is final. - Standards are voluntary, outcome-based and never name or require a vendor product. - Standards Board: seven members, majority practitioners; issuing a standard requires at least five of seven votes. - Founding sponsor: AIVONS (disclosed; sponsors have no vote and no Board seat). Interim convenor: Raja Chris (non-voting). - Membership tiers: Founding, Practitioner, Observer. Vendors join as Observers. - Framework alignment: NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, EU AI Act deployer duties, NYDFS 23 NYCRR Part 500. ## Standards (exposure drafts) - [The AIGSB Accountability Framework](https://aigsb.org/framework.html): The AIGSB Accountability Framework: lifecycle, control objectives, a five-level maturity model, and mapping to NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, EU AI Act and NYDFS 500. - [AIGS 100 Accountable Ownership](https://aigsb.org/aigs-100.html): AIGS 100 exposure draft: every AI system and agent has a named owner of record, owner-unknown is a finding, and leavers' AI is reassigned within 30 days. - [AIGS 200 Cost and Token Accountability](https://aigsb.org/aigs-200.html): AIGS 200 exposure draft: attribute AI token and credit spend to an owner, purpose and budget, report unaccountable spend, and never show unpriced usage as zero. - [AIGS 300 Usage and Access](https://aigsb.org/aigs-300.html): AIGS 300 exposure draft: know who uses which AI and whether it is sanctioned, detect shadow AI, state monitoring coverage, and respect workplace monitoring law. - [AIGS 400 Data Protection and Personal Data](https://aigsb.org/aigs-400.html): AIGS 400 exposure draft: personal and confidential data reaches AI systems only where it is classified, permitted for that purpose, inspected and logged. - [AIGS 500 Agent and Tool Security](https://aigsb.org/aigs-500.html): AIGS 500 exposure draft: least privilege for AI agents, exposure-path analysis, tool action classification, MCP server registry, egress control and human approval. - [AIGS 600 Evidence and Assurance](https://aigsb.org/aigs-600.html): AIGS 600 exposure draft: label every AI governance claim by evidence strength (Declared, Configured, Observed, Verified), with no false greens in board reporting. - [Standards catalog](https://aigsb.org/standards.html): The AIGS standards for enterprise AI: ownership, cost and token accountability, usage, data protection, AI agent and tool security, and evidence and assurance. ## Organization - [About AIGSB](https://aigsb.org/about.html): Mission, vision and principles of the AI Governance Standards Board: a practitioner-led, technology-neutral standard-setter for accountable enterprise AI. - [Governance](https://aigsb.org/governance.html): How AIGSB is governed: independent Trustees, a seven-member Standards Board, an Advisory Council, Technical Working Groups and a Secretariat, modeled on FASB. - [Due process](https://aigsb.org/due-process.html): AIGSB due process from agenda to exposure draft, 60-day public comment, redeliberation, issuance and post-implementation review, modeled on FASB and PCAOB. - [Independence and conflicts of interest](https://aigsb.org/independence.html): How AIGSB keeps AI governance standard-setting independent: sponsor disclosure, no sponsor votes, no vendor mandates and individual conflict declarations. ## Reference - [Glossary](https://aigsb.org/glossary.html): Definitions of AI governance terms used in the AIGS standards: owner of record, exposure path, unaccountable spend, evidence strength, false green and more. - [Frequently asked questions](https://aigsb.org/faq.html): Answers about AIGSB: how it differs from NIST AI RMF and ISO/IEC 42001, who writes the standards, vendor participation, funding and independence. - [Research](https://aigsb.org/research.html): AIGSB research agenda and the State of AI Ownership benchmark: owner decay, shared AI spend, agent exposure paths and assurance for AI governance. ## Participate - [Membership](https://aigsb.org/membership.html): Join AIGSB as a Founding, Practitioner or Observer member: shape AI governance standards, comment on drafts, share ideas and join peer roundtables. - [Events](https://aigsb.org/events.html): Practitioner-only AIGSB roundtables for CISOs and AI governance leaders, starting with the Founding Chapter Roundtable in New York.
